| Security, Access control |
An information retrieval and management system needs to be secure:
Intranet security: the search engine indexer agent scans the Intranet. It should not be a security problem, it must not offer a backdoor to intruders.
Data security: a search engine must strictly apply the security regulations defined by the enterprise data administrator.
Controled access to documents : a search engine should only display to the user the documents that he/she has right to view.
|
| REFLEXION and the Intranet security |
A secure indexer agent:
As an enterprise software, REFLEXION indexes documents through the Intranet file system and databases, complying with the security rules defined by the network and data administrator.
To do so, REFLEXION scans the network under a user identity assigned to it by the Administrator.
That user needs only read rights on the network shared directories and data.
The REFLEXION indexer does not move or modify any document, and does not store any textual data.
The indexes and dictionaries created by REFLEXION are encrypted.
|
| REFLEXION enforces access control to documents |
A user of REFLEXION will only see the documents that he/she is allowed to see:
Before displaying the list of responses to a query, REFLEXION checks for each document that the identified user has a read right on that document.
Unauthorized documents are not displayed in the list of results on the user's computer.
And, last precaution (normally unused), the user's click on a document of the list will not open the document if the user has no right to read it.
REFLEXION checks the user's identity ("authentication") and rights ("authorisation") given to that user by the Administrator.
